Hi Alla,
So sorry they must have stopped serving it. I will be sure to update our list.
I breakfast almost every day in the Eastern Bangkok, Bang Na, Samut Prakan area. It gets me out of the house. The only two places i’ve ever been able to find decaf is Coffee Academics and Paul in Mega BangNa. No Starbucks, Au bon pain or any other chain or boutique cafe i’ve ever been into in that area has ever been able to provide decaf.
Hi Michael,
That is really strange, Starbucks should have decaf option available. But great to know the two cafe you mentioned, we will add them to our blog.

Café 8.98 in ao nang and phi phi have excellent decaf coffe
Just for the record, Café Amazon didn’t open till 2002, and was preceded in Thailand by Coffee World and Starbucks in the late ’90s. And of course there were many Chinese coffeeshops in Thailand since the early 1900s, plus at least one Japanese-run Western-style shop from the 1980s. Boncafe has been selling beans here since 1991 but no decaf until relatively recently.
Thank you for sharing this. I really appreciate the added context and corrections. Much of what we wrote was based on what we had heard and read while researching, so it’s great to learn more about the earlier history. You’re absolutely right that Thailand’s coffee culture goes back much further, from the Chinese coffee shops and early independent cafés to brands like Boncafé, Coffee World, and Starbucks before Café Amazon. Thanks for helping us paint a more complete picture. It’s always nice when readers share their knowledge.
