The Godfather Coffee – Bold by Tradition
Named after the iconic movie The Godfather, this coffee is powerful, influential, and bold! Just like the legendary story that inspired it. Crafted at a customer’s request, The Godfather Coffee draws inspiration from Death Wish Coffee and the “French roast” tradition. Originating in France in the 19th century, French roast was a method of roasting beans darker than typical European roasts to preserve them during long shipping and bring out a rich, robust taste, resulting in a strong, bold, and slightly smoky flavor.
For The Godfather Coffee, we use Thepsadet Coffee – 100% Thai Arabica, sourced from the cool, shaded forests of Thepsadet, Chiang Mai, at 1,200–1,400 MASL. Produced by local farmer Khun Pond, whose family has farmed this land for over 40 years, Thepsadet Coffee carries forward a legacy that began with his grandfather’s fruits and vegetables and evolved into a dedication to coffee. Khun Pond’s father transitioned to coffee roasting at a time when Thai coffee was still emerging, and today, Khun Pond continues the family’s passion while staying rooted in tradition.
Every sip of The Godfather Coffee delivers bold flavor and smoky depth while supporting local farmers who own their land, set fair prices, and focus on growing exceptional coffee. Enjoy this legendary roast and feel like the boss of your own coffee experience.

The aroma and taste of the Godfather French Roast is unequaled. Strong and robust with a rich smoky after taste. I use 4 heaping table spoons per cup with a small amout of brown sugar and a small mike to get the perfect coffee color. I have no orher French Roast with such a full bodied flavor

The description says that it is the darkest of the dark roasts and that is an adequate review. It is dark, it is bold, and it is delicious. The only reason I gave it a four star and not a five star review is I felt it lacked some depth of flavors in lieu of being so bold. However, still a very tasty cup of coffee.

I love a good dark roast French blend in the morning. This is one of best I have had in over 50 years as a coffee drinker.
Regularly included in our orders and enjoyed by us all.

Probably the best coffee I have ever drank. I like a strong, dark roast coffee without the acid taste that most have. The Godfather is strong in taste, strong in flavor, strong in caffeine but still smooth in taste. This is the only coffee I drink now.

It’s growing on me. I’m looking for a local version of Starbucks French Roast, intensely dark, oily beans that produce a very strong cup of coffee. Godfather is really good but falls a bit short of what I was searching for.

Hi Tim,
Thank you so much for your review. Perhaps you’d like to give our Thai French Roast a try or the Organic French Roast. They may match what you are looking for better?

My first time trying this blend. It has a very distinctive toasted taste, but no bitter flavor at all. Very smooth and bold.

This is a great really strong bold tasting coffee. It’s not my everyday brew but I like to keep a bag of it in the house for when I’m in the mood to mix it with other beans to deepen the flavor of the brew.

This one that is on our list to reorder on a regular basis.
It is a great coffee and provides a change from the dark roast beans that make up the bulk of our orders.

Wow.
What an intense flavour, delicious but a little too much for me. I was pulling a double shot espresso hand having it somewhere between a Lungo and an Americano.
I will try a medium dark next time.

I add 4 heaped teaspoons to my 350 ml French press and a 1/2 teaspoon of organic stevia. This is perfect for my elevenses as I am a robusta man for my first coffee when I wake up. The Godfather is the strongest and best full bodied arabica I have tasted
